Angel loves Occupational Therapy. Actually, she pretty much loves all of her therapies because she gets to play and her therapists are like old friends. When we last went for OT, Angel was looking forward to playing on the swing in the therapy room. She thinks it is pretty neat that there is a swing inside.
While I talked with her OT about potty training and behaviour issues (Angel has been hurting her sister again), Angel played with different things around the room. Then the OT brought out some pre-printing sheets and Angel sat down at the table and worked on them for quite awhile. You could see the concentration she was putting in to get the lines as close to the ones on the sheet. We were both impressed with how long she stayed at the activity and kept her attention there.
Our therapist also made Angel a Diego game board. The idea is that when we find Angel behaving well with her sister, she gets to move a space on the board which we cover with a sticker. There are Diego pictures on the board and when she gets to those spaces, she gets a special prize. I haven't gotten around to using this yet because I keep forgetting to buy some things for her prizes. I must remember to do that this week! I'm getting to the end of my rope with Angel's aggressive behaviour toward her sister.
We go back for another session of Occupational Therapy in October, after Angel has had a chance to get comfortable with school. We'll also be seeing her pediatrician and speech therapist in October, so I imagine Angel will be missing a bit of school.
